ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Joy, Care, Hope. Be the difference.
Bright Blessings first began in 2005 as a monthly birthday program for children staying at the Salvation Army Center of Hope in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our organization's founders, John and Amy Cervantes, wanted to help brighten the lives of needy children while also instilling a love and commitment for community service in their own young children. What started as a family project to celebrate homeless and impoverished children on their birthday has grown in ways we could not have imagined.
Today, Bright Blessings remains a volunteer-led organization that impacted more than 35,851 homeless and impoverished children in 2020. Through our core programs; Bless-A-Birthday, Bless-A-Baby, Gift of Literacy and Gift of Care, we surpassed a huge milestone in October of 2020 by celebrating 100,000 children served since our organization’s humble beginning. Bright Blessings now has partnerships with over 30 local agencies and school districts and is serving children in 6 counties including Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell and York.
Additionally, we opened our very first charter office in Lake Norman in the Fall of 2019. The Lake Norman Chapter is 100% volunteer-led and manages the delivery of our program services to children in North Mecklenburg and Iredell Counties. The Lake Norman office is on target to serve nearly 400 children by the end of the year.
As we look ahead, we are excited about the opportunities for additional growth in our service area and new agency partnerships. As our organization grows year after year, we continue to deliver joy, care, and hope to even more homeless and impoverished children across our region and beyond.
Our Mission
