ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Empowering people to reach their full potential through self empowerment and sustainable development.
A typical rural village in the Indian sub-continent faces several issues including unemployment, water scarcity and poverty, domestic violence, gender discrimination, illiteracy to name a few. CORD provides sustainable solutions to these problems (as opposed to handout) by adopting each village and holistically solving for its issues and empowering people.
CORD usually begins with maternal and childcare and then based on a particular village’s need, starts several programs including, family income generation, women’s empowerment, health and sanitation, legal cells, self-help groups, disability programs, alcoholism rehabilitation etc. to provide overall development of a village.
CORD has had huge successes with its leader Dr. Kshama Metre winning the Padma Shree Indias highest award from the President of India. Its holistic rural development has become a national model for rural development and CORD has made a significant impact in over 700 villages in India. However just India has over 600,000 villages, 40% of which are below poverty line and much work remains to be done. Your support is very highly appreciated!
Every Step Matters, Every Dollar Counts, Every Person Makes a Difference!
