ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
To educate, promote, and preserve Icelandic Heritage
Icelandic Roots provides seminars, presentations, publications, research, and many educational resources to support individuals, families, and educators in understanding the history of Iceland and its people. We supply an online genealogical database that is much more than names and dates along with the very fun "Cousins Across the Ocean" project. With social media, a blog, outreach, and many fun projects, we engage those who want just little snippets of information at a time.
None of the genealogists, IT staff, or other volunteers are paid - everyone is a volunteer to make IR the best site to collaborate on keeping our shared story alive.
Our Mission
Ir is a non-profit, non-political, charitable organization with a mission to educate, preserve, and promote Icelandic Heritage, history of Iceland, Genealogy, strengthen the links between Icelanders and those of Icelandic descent in North America, and to inspire pride in our heritage, culture, literature, traditions, and language.
