As we are living in these transitional and turbulent times there is a great need to remain responsive and nimble in addressing the sudden changes that come with life. This challenge of 100 Million Steps For Justice was birthed in response to the egregious and heinous acts of injustice against people of color that we have been witnessing for decades and especially in recent days. Below is an overview of the vision and intent of the 100 Million Steps for Justice.
The Purpose:
Ironically, our nation’s highest leader plans to reconvene campaigns aimed at bolstering his support base. Incidentally, these rallies are slated to begin in Tulsa, Oklahoma which is the site of the 1921 race massacre where the wealth and lives of black residents were destroyed through violence. An appropriate response to the silent dog whistle political move of the previously mentioned rally is a unified response from those who refuse to tolerate injustice any longer! We are looking for at least 10,000 people JUST LIKE YOU to stand in solidarity with us while doing something healthy in their individual contexts of life. Anyone desiring to raise their voice in the fight against racial and social injustice in our country can participate. Put your feet to the pavement for justice TODAY!
The Plan:
The goal is to enlist 10,000 individuals to walk /run a minimum total of 10,000 steps (virtually) beginning June 19, 2020 – July 3, 2020. Unlike a traditional walk or run, this experience will be virtual as a safety measure against COVID-19. This virtual experience allows individuals to participate wherever and whenever they decide within the timeframe of the challenge. Juneteenth (June 19th) was intentionally selected as the kick-off day in that it commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States (June 19, 1865). Given that the social climate of our times is currently oppressive to black Americans we are kicking off the 100 Million Steps for Justice. We will ask for a small donation of $15.00 from each participant with 100% of the proceeds being divided among social justice groups such as: NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Black Lives Matter, Color of Change, BlackGirlsCode, and Next Level Boys Academy. Our goal is to raise at least $150,000 to sow into the fight for justice.
The Partners: The 100 Million Steps for Justice is the collaborative effort of pastors throughout Metro-Atlanta and their congregations, various organizations in support of racial equality and justice, and leading influencers in the community. The goal is to demonstrate unity and oneness in the wake of the tortuous and murderous deaths of people of color. We win together!

What is the campaign registration fee?
Campaign registration fee is the amount that you'll need to pay to enroll in this virtual race. This fee (less transaction charges) will go to the non-profit running this campaign as a donation.
The registration fee along with the funds raised through your individual fundraising page will enable the non-profit to fund various programs and pursue their organization's mission.

Well, you wouldn't have to create a separate fundraising page. Once you register for this campaign, we'll give you the link to your fundraising page.
If you workout indoors (treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike etc.), you can upload your workouts here.

I am an international donor (non-US), what are my donation charges and tax-deductibility?
All donations are made in US dollars, so the donations may be levied an exchange rate fee via your bank. Donors will want to connect with their bank to determine exactly what that fee may be. Additionally, international donors will need to reach out to a tax professional to discuss if and how tax deductibility will apply to their donation.
Who can sponsor my fundraising efforts?
The short answer is - everyone. The fundraising research shows that the number one reason for people not donating is that they weren't asked to.
That said, there are things you can do to attract people to sponsor you. Adding a picture to your fundraising page, telling potential donors why this cause is so personal to you, sharing your fundraising page on social media, email, and chat groups.
Last, if your employer has a gift matching program, check with the human resources department to support your favorite cause as well.
