Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley helps adults communicate in English by matching them with trained volunteer tutors one to one, which results in confident, skilled residents who can realize their personal aspirations, meet the financial obligations of their families, and contribute to the success of our community.
We have served adults who live or work in central Kane County, IL since 1986. Volunteers customize lessons specifically for their adult students based on their needs and goals using proven methods. Adult students benefit as they improve their English and learn how to navigate American culture. Our volunteers are more than teachers. They are mentors, confidence builders, coaches, connectors, friends, and advocates. Through the relationships they have with our volunteer tutors, adult students receive more than simple English lessons. They adapt and learn how to become better workers, engaged parents, and involved community members.
