ABOUT E-RACE LONELINESS CAMPAIGN

Thank YOU for participating in our 5-week “E-Race Loneliness” virtual event. This will really be fun! You can watch yourself moving along the route, which is a heart around Colorado. For those of you who are competitive, you can see someone moving ahead of you. Uh-oh! Don’t want that. Gotta get moving!

For over 26 years, Bessie's Hope has brought joy, hugs, love, and fun to thousands of isolated elders through our volunteer programs described in the section about Bessie’s Hope.

During COVID-19, the Bessie's Hope “Staying Connected Initiative” has been bringing hundreds of letters, cards, drawings, gifts to the elders, as well as using Zoom to provide personal visits, church services and entertainment. Thanks to YOU, this will continue, AND the HUGS WILL be back!

Walk, Run, or Dance – outside or inside, get others involved, and raise funds to ensure that Bessie's Hope is there when the doors open again for the nursing home elders!



Step One: Register and pay the $25 participation fee. Consider clicking the "Pay It Forward" and pay for a friend to get involved. Encourage him/her to also pay it forward to benefit Bessie's Hope and the elders, AND to build your team or start their own!

Step Two: Create your own personal Event and Fundraising Page to share with all your family, friends and contacts all over the world. YOU are shining a light on forgotten nursing home elders. You could have team members from all over the globe. YOU will be helping sustain and expand the work of Bessie's Hope.

Step Three: Track your steps on the website in one of the following ways: Download the free app from Charity Footprints on your phone, sync your own tracking device or manually enter the steps on your Event Page.




Prizes:
Each participant will be emailed an attractive personalized E-Race Loneliness certificate stating that YOU are shining a light on and enhancing the lives of hundreds of nursing home elders. It will also have a heartwarming photo of a youth with an elder.

Weekly prizes for most steps; largest amount of donations; and Team Captain with most members. Over-all final prizes for most steps and Captain with most team members.

Raise $100 above the registration fee and receive an LED keychain flashlight that reads “Shining a Light on the Forgotten”. Everyone loves these flashlights!

Raise $300 above the registration fee and receive the flashlight and $50 in gift cards.

What is the campaign registration fee?

Campaign registration fee is the amount that you'll need to pay to enroll in this virtual race. This fee (less transaction charges) will go to the non-profit running this campaign as a donation.

The registration fee along with the funds raised through your individual fundraising page will enable the non-profit to fund various programs and pursue their organization's mission.

How can I create my fundraising page?

Well, you wouldn't have to create a separate fundraising page. Once you register for this campaign, we'll give you the link to your fundraising page.

How will I track my distance?

You can track your workouts by setting up your devices (Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, Health Connect By Android, Misfit, Strava), or download the Charity Footprints' iOS or Android app and track your workouts toward this campaign. ?>

How do I join a team on this campaign?

While registering for the campaign, select the team you'd like to join or create a new team and invite others to #GetFitGiveBack with you. I am an international donor (non-US), what are my donation charges and tax-deductibility?

All donations are made in US dollars, so the donations may be levied an exchange rate fee via your bank. Donors will want to connect with their bank to determine exactly what that fee may be. Additionally, international donors will need to reach out to a tax professional to discuss if and how tax deductibility will apply to their donation.

Who can sponsor my fundraising efforts?

The short answer is - everyone. The fundraising research shows that the number one reason for people not donating is that they weren't asked to.

That said, there are things you can do to attract people to sponsor you. Adding a picture to your fundraising page, telling potential donors why this cause is so personal to you, sharing your fundraising page on social media, email, and chat groups.

Last, if your employer has a gift matching program, check with the human resources department to support your favorite cause as well.
