Friends and Family -
First things first -- Tracy and I will personally match all donations towards this very personal and important cause up to $18,000.
Over 19 years ago I was introduced to an issue I never imagined possible — the lack of education possibilities for many Israeli children. The statistics were daunting: Israeli education ranked at the lowest end of the countries within the developed world. Something clicked for me given my family's long lineage of educators and I decided to join an incredible group of friends (who I am now fortunate to call family) set to tackle the problem by helping to build The Youth Renewal Fund (YRF). Today, I am proud to say that along with our partner Darca we run 41 schools with over 23,000 students whose lives are being changed forever.
Our model is a simple one (in theory but not execution — no different from any business)!
— train and provide great leadership at each school. Success starts at the CEO level (or in this case with each Principal).
— focus on the fundamentals (English, Math and Science) and push out from there
— make sure culturally that the success of the student is the driver behind what every teacher thinks about 24/7/365
Our results are off the charts! Led by our amazing CEO, Dr Gil Pereg, and his staff, together YRF and Darca have built the top network of schools within the State of Israel. Our students are thriving with many of them graduating to attend the best units within the IDF and then on to some of the best universities in the world.
But our mission isn’t over! We have identified an additional 150+ schools in Israel that could use our help. Each school requires us to raise approximately $300,000 annually (which is leveraged with government spending on our schools of around $8 for every dollar we raise).

The Mission: Youth Renewal Fund is the philanthropic and strategic funding partner for Darca schools in Israel, investing in an innovative education throughout Israel’s most underserved communities as a means of improving social mobility.
About the Organization: Youth Renewal Fund is the philanthropic and strategic funding partner for the Darca network of schools in Israel. Darca provides Israeli high school students in lower-income communities—regardless of ability, religion, birthplace, geographic or socio-economic status—an excellent education designed to improve social mobility. The schools emphasize academic achievement and the values of tolerance, democracy and active participation in national and community life. Darca schools currently operate 43 high schools serving over 24,000 students each day in the country’s peripheral communities. Israel currently faces one of the largest and fastest-growing gaps in educational achievement between rich and poor. An under-educated population puts Israel’s predominantly knowledge-based economy at risk. Through Darca schools, Israeli children discover and harness the power of education as a means to improve quality of life for themselves, their communities, and their country.
