Special Olympics Washington
My Appeal
For 18 months ball fields, swimming pools, and bowling alleys sat empty. Medals have sat on shelves, and gloves gathered dust. While many Special Olympics athletes were able to embrace the new digital world that took over, others were left in the dark due to accessibility. But we are happy to share that we are back! Cheers are once again shouted from the sidelines and athletes are in uniform.

Your support of Special Olympics Washington shows athletes, families, and the community that you believe in providing continuing opportunities for thousands of individuals with intellectual disabilities across the state who are excited to get back to competition, health programs, and interacting with their friends and coaches.

Special Olympics Washington is committed to providing athletes and families with the support they need throughout the pandemic and beyond by continuing to assist with technology gaps, basic needs, at home training kits, equipment, and most importantly, the opportunity to return to the field of play.
My Progress

My Cause
The Mission: The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
About the Organization: Special Olympics was started by Eunice Kennedy Shriver in 1968 as a way to provide people with intellectual disabilities a place to play and feel included. Today, her vision has become a global movement with more than 6.7 million athletes and Unified Sports partners participating in more than 200 countries..

Through programming in sports, inclusive health, education and community building, Special Olympics is changing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics removes barriers and stigmas that people with intellectual disabilities face, so they can share their gifts and talents with the community.
