My Appeal
The approximate cost to send one child to camp for one life-changing in-person session is $1,000. The average cost to provide a virtual camp in our new program called CONNECTED, to a child is $500.

Summer Camp 2022 was held in-person this year, serving approximately 150 campers during two, five day sessions! We also now have our digital program, CONNECTED. The week before each CONNECTED digital program, each camper receives a care package with all the supplies needed to do the counselor led activities via zoom. Campers report loving the opportunity to engage with each other and their counselors. It costs approximately $500 to provide a digital camp for one child. We encourage each participant to raise $250 - the approximate amount to support a portion of virtual camp. Our digital programming has expanded our reach to serve children outside of our geographic area so we can provide meaningful, fun program to children diagnosed with cancer anywhere. Even their hospital beds! Funds raised will help us provide programs for children diagnosed with cancer and their families.

My Cause
The Mission: Camp One Step by Children's Oncology Services believes that cancer should not prevent a child from enjoying the simple joys of childhood. When kids are diagnosed with cancer, childhood can swept away by appointments, treatments, and hospital visits for the child diagnosed and for their brothers and sisters. Camp One Step gives childhood back by providing free programs for children diagnosed with cancer and their families so they can enjoy fishing, arts and crafts, and games that promote inclusion.

We are one of the very few organizations in the country who provide programming exclusively for children who have a sibling with cancer. During Sibling Camp, children who have a brother or sister with cancer can have fun, laugh, and and spend time with peers who understand their unique journey.
About the Organization: Camp One Step by Children's Oncology Services is a leader in providing empowering, supportive, educational and fun experiences for children who have been diagnosed with cancer. We are the only local organization to offer 11 different programs throughout the year serving children and families who live in Illinois, Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest. Thanks to our 400 annual volunteers, including medical professionals, children who are in different stages of treatment have the ability to attend our One Step Programs. Over the last 45 years our organization has served more than 15,000 campers.

We exist to heal scars that no one can see such as fear, isolation, depression, lack of support and no longer fitting in. Through community, support and shared experiences with peers, we deliver happy, pain free medicine called “camp."

WE EMPOWER KIDS IMPACTED BY CANCER,
ENCOURAGING THEM TO TAKE ON THE WORLD!
