My Appeal
Friends and Family -

HospiceSLO County (HSLO) provides services for the sick, dying and bereaved at no cost. HSLO's small staff recruits, trains and supervises volunteers to provide in-home support. We also offer pet-support, grief support groups, and community grief response- all at no charge to the clients and their families. Since we do not bill insurance, we can only provide these services through private donations, grants, and fundraisers like the Walk for Healing. Last year, we raised over $50,000.00 from this event.

I hope you will join my team and help me fundraise for HSLO. Let's bike, walk and run together!

My Cause
The Mission: Hospice SLO County supports our community members who are grieving a death, coping with a life-limiting illness, or facing the end of life. All services are offered free of charge.
About the Organization: As a volunteer hospice, Hospice SLO County provides access to all who are dying or grieving in the community, regardless of whether a condition or situation meets federal Medicare requirements. We are one of only 17 social model hospice agencies left in the country that provide support to individuals from the time of diagnosis to the last breath.

We recruit, train, supervise, and support our volunteers to go into homes and help clients as soon as they are diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. These in-home volunteers provide much-needed respite support to caregivers. They also provide support and comfort to the client and their family by offering education and guidance; emotional and spiritual support; and practical care. Pet Peace of Mind volunteers support seriously ill people with some care for their pets to help keep the animals with their human through their illness or their end of life.

Our grief counseling services are available to community members coping with the death of another (including animals) regardless of when, where, or how the death occurred. We offer individual and family counseling and various support groups along with Community Grief Response – a team who helps businesses and organizations process the death of a co-worker or member. Anticipatory grief counseling is also available.

The services of Hospice SLO County make grief counseling exponentially more accessible to a much wider range of community members, due to being offered free of charge. As a volunteer hospice, we do not bill insurance or charge fees and we provide access to all who are dying or grieving in the community, without having to meet federal Medicare or private insurance requirements.
