My Appeal
Every day, people in the United States (and abroad) are losing their lives to a silent killer - antibiotic resistant bacterial or fungal infections. These are sicknesses caused by microorganisms that cannot be killed by antibiotics - they have developed resistance to them. And everyone is susceptible, especially those who are hospitalized. This may be your grandmother who has pneumonia, your baby needing a bit of extra care in the NICU, or your kid who needs to have their appendix removed or broken bone repaired.

The good news? There are people (including myself) currently working to prevent the spread of these microbes, identify new ways to treat them, and delay the development of antimicrobial resistance through stewardship activities. Many of these individuals are part of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. Through the affiliated Foundation, this fundraiser will raise money to fund critical research that will protect the lives of hospitalized patients everywhere. Please follow me as I "WOD" my way to the finish line and consider supporting this life-saving work.
