Will you open your door?
You open your door and standing on your doorstep is this child. A hungry child, a child with no shoes, no family and nowhere else to turn for help. What would you do? You would help this child, wouldn’t you? There are children that would stand on your doorstep if they could - asking, pleading, praying for help, but they can’t because they live far away. And yet their needs are the same. Laura Belk, founder of Nurturing Nations and who you are walking with, has held many of these children, looked into their eyes and prayed that people would join with her. People who care about a suffering child. It is a heavy burden that she carries. A burden because she has chosen to do something about it. A burden to show charity. A burden to help those in need. Laura started this charity because she couldn’t walk away from the many children she saw when adopting her daughter from Ghana. A charity where every penny is used to help children living in desperate, dangerous circumstances. Not a charity where she gets paid a salary or a charity where donations are used to pay travel costs etc. A charity where people can donate knowing that they are making a real difference in the life of a child. Laura never wanted to see children in such desperate circumstances, and I am sure you don’t either. Laura wanted to close her eyes and convince herself that the problem was too big. That the little she could do was really a drop in a bucket. However, she didn't close her eyes, and she is working to save lives, one child at a time. It seems easier to keep our door closed and not open the door to see the needy child standing on our doorstep. Thank you for choosing to join Laura and open your door! Look the child in the eyes. Acknowledge their need, their hunger, their fear. Thank you for opening your door and joining me on this challenge. Together we are saving lives! Please invite others to join with us too!

She removed her shoes
This woman had walked several miles to attend the medical clinic that we held in Assin Adadientem. She was very sick and had a difficult time walking. I noticed that she had removed her simple sandals. I learned it was because she was trying to protect her sandals so they would last as long as possible. Will you walk for her? THANK YOU!
