The Small Things (TST) currently supports over 130 vulnerable children and families in Tanzania. Our first priority is family preservation, and we have kept over 100 children in their families, supporting them through microfinance, business training, providing school fees, and more. We also have about 50 children in full time, residential care, with newborns – 3 year olds at Nkoaranga Orphanage, and 4 – 18 year olds in loving family-style homes at Happy Family Children’s Village.
A $20 donation is enough to feed one child for a month, while a $50 donation will pay for a week’s loving care by a local “mama.” $100 covers microfinance for a new business, to help children stay in families where they belong, and $500 provides food for the thirty children’s village kids for a full month!
UPDATE (8/18):
Hi everyone. Fantastic news!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we've managed to collect $6,500 in offline donations, not reflected on our main campaign page. In order to display these additional donations and accurately keep track of our progress, the fundraising target has been modified from $20,000 to $13,500. With this adjustment, you can see that we're now only $5,000 dollars away from hitting our goal!
There are just two weeks left to participate in Kili4Kids, and the virtual summit of Kilimanjaro is within our reach. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of the vulnerable children and families of Nkoaranga with every small but intentional step we take forward.
Keep it up guys--we're 75% of the way there. Safari njema! (We wish you a good journey!) See you at the top of Kili!
PS: Don't forget to check out TEAM TST to see everything we've been doing here in Nkoaranga to support these efforts.
Track workouts anywhere & anytime and complete goal.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
THE SMALL THINGS
The Small Things (TST) currently supports over 130 vulnerable children and families in Tanzania. Our first priority is family preservation, and we have kept over 100 children in their families, supporting them through microfinance, business training, providing school fees, and more. We also have about 50 children in full time, residential care, with newborns – 3 year olds at Nkoaranga Orphanage, and 4 – 18 year olds in loving family-style homes at Happy Family Children’s Village.
TST believes in building and supporting happy families, in all their various shapes and forms. We create sustainable, participatory and evolving care plans for orphaned and vulnerable children and families in the Meru district of Tanzania. Working with the community, we aim to empower our clients and bringing together small acts from around the world to create big change.
A $20 donation is enough to feed one child for a month, while a $50 donation will pay for a week’s loving care by a local “mama.” $100 covers microfinance for a new business, to help children stay in families where they belong, and $500 provides food for the thirty children’s village kids for a full month!
All money raised will go towards care of the children, including food costs, medical care, school fees, caretaker salaries, daily transport, and upkeep of their homes. Every dollar spent in Tanzania has double the impact, helping children and contributing to the local economy!

What is the campaign registration fee?
Campaign registration fee is the amount that you'll need to pay to enroll in this virtual race. This fee (less transaction charges) will go to the non-profit running this campaign as a donation.

I am an international donor (non-US), what are my donation charges and tax-deductibility?
All donations are made in US dollars, so the donations may be levied an exchange rate fee via your bank. Donors will want to connect with their bank to determine exactly what that fee may be. Additionally, international donors will need to reach out to a tax professional to discuss if and how tax deductibility will apply to their donation.
Who can sponsor my fundraising efforts?
The short answer is - everyone. The fundraising research shows that the number one reason for people not donating is that they weren't asked to.
That said, there are things you can do to attract people to sponsor you. Adding a picture to your fundraising page, telling potential donors why this cause is so personal to you, sharing your fundraising page on social media, email, and chat groups.
Last, if your employer has a gift matching program, check with the human resources department to support your favorite cause as well.
