ABOUT FINISH STRONG (ON PURPOSE) CAMPAIGN
In 2023, Travis Scott’s cousin, Brent Warnecke, unexpectedly passed away from a heart condition. More than just a cousin, Brent was like an older brother—a role model, protector, and the family's connective tissue. He planned trips and events that brought everyone together, generously giving his time, energy, and resources to ensure those around him felt connected.
Brent was an avid cyclist and deeply philanthropic, especially when it came to causes involving children. At a 2024 fundraiser for The Brent Warnecke Scholarship Foundation, Travis purchased Brent’s road bike as part of a silent auction.
In that moment, he found a renewed sense of purpose — something he'd been neglecting since his recent mental health diagnosis, now exacerbated by profound loss.
Determined to honor Brent's legacy of philanthropy, Travis envisioned supporting today’s youth in fostering purposeful lives. He aimed to advocate for improved mental health policies and services, encourage responsible device usage, and connect communities in real life. And he realized he could achieve this through something as simple as cycling.
Collaborating with his family, Travis founded Cycling On Purpose and is currently organizing the The Resilience Ride that will take place next summer. In this cross-country cycling journey, he will ride Brent’s bike nearly 2,100 miles from his home in Spokane, WA to Indianapolis, IN, he and Brent grew up only five miles apart from each other to help bring awareness to the mental health challenges our youth face today.
To help raise money for this ride, as well as provide funding toward youth mental health education, advocacy, and research, Travis is launching the "Finish Strong (On Purpose)" cycling challenge. This initiative invites cyclists of all levels (especially those who love their Pelotons) to join him in ending the year with intention and purpose. The challenge embodies the mission of Cycling On Purpose by promoting mental well-being, fostering community connections, and inspiring participants to set and achieve meaningful goals - on purpose.
With your support, Cycling On Purpose and the "Finish Strong (On Purpose)" challenge will continue to grow and amplify their impact in the years to come. To preserve its founding purpose and inspiration, Cycling On Purpose remains committed to its mission, values, and goals—honoring Brent's legacy while shining a light on the mental health challenges afflicting our youth.
The campaign will start Nov 29th and end Dec 31st. The campaign will be a peer-to-peer campaign centered around individual riding goals and fundraising goals. There will be a registration fee of $30.
Raise $100 or more, and you'll receive a Cycling On Purpose cycling cap as a thank-you for your incredible support.
