THE FIRST STEP

"Beginning a 100 million step journey!"
The 100 Million Steps for Justice was a collaborative effort of Pastors throughout Metro-Atlanta and their congregations, various organizations in support of racial equality and justice, and leading influencers in the community. The goal was simply to demonstrate unity and oneness in the wake of the tortuous and murderous deaths of people of color.
With this goal and the broader group and vision in mind, Charity Footprints created a campaign enabled with Partner Promotions feature. This not only allowed various Pastors and their congregations to participate, but also made sure that the community became aware of the like minded groups who were standing up for justice.

FOSTERING MULTI-CHARITY GIVING

Given the social climate at the time, the 100 Million Steps for Justice campaign encouraged all participants to make a small donation of $15 with 100% of the proceeds being divided among social justice groups such as - NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Black Lives Matter, Color of Change, BlackGirlsCode, and Next Level Boys Academy.
The success of this campaign made sure that Elizabeth Baptist Church (and other partner Pastors and their congregations) were not only able to raise awareness, but also raised funds and donated to the organizations who are fighting the injustice fight on the ground every single day. Charity Footprints' customizable fundraising features, social media amplification integrations and robust reporting modules ensured that the donor journeys were smooth and the down-stream donation disbursements to the social justice groups was simple to execute on.

ENCOURAGING TEAM PARTICIPATION TO AMPLIFY GROWTH

A 100 Million Steps journey can seem daunting, and outright impossible for an individual to do in a matter of weeks. This is where Charity Footprints' team features proved to be really useful. By encouraging participants to create a team and invite others to join it, we ensured that the campaign was able to recruit thousands of people and allow them to do a group activity albeit virtually.

TAKING STEPS FOR JUSTICE

With the congregations registered to walk, the teams and fundraising pages created, it was now time for the individual participants to take the 100 million steps. Charity Footprints allowed individual participants to track their steps using mobile fitness apps, wearable trackers or simply by reporting their steps on the campaign website. It was amazing to see the participants beat the lofty 100 million steps goal and covering over 125 million steps by the end of the campaign.

US, NOT ME

During the campaign ideation it became clear to us that bringing the community together was a key goal for the campaign administrators. Charity Footprints custom created this camapign's virtual map to start in Atlanta, go all around the US, and come back to Atlanta - to signify that racial and social justice is not a one person, one community, one state or locality issue, rather it is important for all of us as one nation.
