LAUNCHING WALK TO ISRAEL

"Join us and Walk To Israel. For our future. To our home."
When COVID-19 disrupted traditional fundraising events, Olami and its partner organizations did not waiver from their commitment to bringing their community together through a virtual 'WALK TO ISRAEL'. Olami inspired volunteers to step up to the challenge and walk, jog or run together to Israel (virtually) over 30 days. Participants could set their own distances and get sponsored for every mile they covered.

BRINGING THE GLOBAL DIASPORA TOGETHER

With Olami's target audience (donors, volunteers and other patrons) spread around the globe, it was important for us to run a campaign that brings everyone together and gives all participants a sense of belonging. Charity Footprints' custom virtual maps did exactly that and encouraged participants to walk to Israel from where ever they were in the world. Whether you were in New York, London, Paris or Sydney ... the goal was the same - Walk To Israel.
Participants logged their walks using various fitness tracking mechanisms (mobile apps, wearable trackers, manually submitting miles etc.) and collectively walked 113,000 miles.

MULTIPLE LANGUAGES SUPPORTED

Another aspect that made this challenge successful was introduction of multi-language support. The campaign administrators at Olami identified that a large contingent of their participants/donors who were based in France and Russia would require the campaign to be functional in their native languages, French and Russian respectively.
Charity Footprints delivered on this multi-language request by integrating native language translations on the campaign site. Although implementing free auto-translation tools would have been easier, our team went the extra mile to natively translate all pages to ensure accurate and to the point translations.

MULTIPLE CURRENCIES SUPPORTED

With a global campaign with over 160 organizations participating, it was essential to support different currencies and donation processing requirements of different countries. Charity Footprints customized the donation pages on the Walk to Israel challenge by supporting different countries and their corresponding merchant accounts via Stripe. This flexibility allowed donors to donate in their local currencies, permitted Olami's partner organizations to receive those donations locally, and empowered donors to receive tax deductions in their respective domicile.

ACCOUNTABILITY & COMPETITION WITH TEAMS

A challenge cannot be complete without sprinkling in some competition and light hearted bantering, could it?
To make the challenge more engaging for participants, we added the Team feature that allowed participants to join an existing team or create one themselves and invite their friends & family members to join. Adding teams into the campaign not only resulted in more accountability, but it also gave participants ownership that resulted in them inviting more people to join them and thus growing the campaign overall.

The Walk To Israel Fundraiser wouldn't be a massive success without the support of all corporate & individual sponsors. The campaign made sure to recognize these individuals & organizations by giving them prominent coverage throughout the site.
