ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Black Breastfeeding and Maternal Health Awareness
BSTARS Vision is to not only meet, but to surpass the health initiative goals set for 2020, by using its momentum; along with other breastfeeding organizations to better understand the wonderment of their bodies and support more Women of Colour to breastfeed, with longer breastfeeding durations. By helping to build this atmosphere of support and sharing stories, whole communities can and will be catapulted into more positive health outcomes. This in turn helps to build family empowerment.
This is our 6th year Walk. With the continued social unrest and health challenges our country is going through, this is a great time to come together... virtually to support a great cause for Black Breastfeeding and Maternal Health Awareness!
The mission of Breastfeeding Sisters That Are Receiving Support (BSTARS) is to reduce the disparities of breastfeeding rates among Black Women by helping to educate, encourage, support and empower more Women of Colour to breastfeed. This will in turn increase the general health and prosperity for women and families. BSTARS is committed to rebuilding the culture surrounding the health equity of Black women and their families by offering comprehensive support to foster these positive changes.
