ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Helping veterans ~ Helping wolves

Lockwood Animal Rescue Center (LARC) rescues wolves, wolfdogs, other wildlife, and domestic animals and provides lifetime sanctuary to many of those rescued. Another keystone program of our organization is that we provide employment for disabled and/or formerly homeless combat veterans suffering from trauma in an eco-therapeutic environment as they care for the rescued animals and learn valuable job skills. in addition, the unique relationships that develop between the wolves and the veterans have proven to be therapeutic for both species.

Our Mission

Lockwood Animal Rescue Center (LARC) offers permanent sanctuary to rescued wolves, wolfdogs, foxes, coyotes, raccoons, skunks, parrots, and other animals.  LARC is also a work therapy program for disabled veterans with war-related trauma. Many of the rescued animals have come from situations of abuse and neglect and suffer from trauma just like the veterans. We promote inter-species healing and provide an opportunity to heal and grow in this unique, back-to-nature environment.
