ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Where Families Move Up & Out of Poverty

In 1981 The Little Sisters established one of the first emergency family shelters in Massachusetts by opening their home in Dorchester to families suffering from the escalating family housing crisis at that time. H-O-P-E. House Open, People Enter. Nearly 40 years later, that house remains home to women and children experiencing homelessness. Project Hope has expanded its services beyond the family shelter to include housing placement services, adult education, and workforce development. Deeply rooted in the communities we serve, we built our headquarters and primary program space at 550 Dudley Street in Roxbury, just blocks from the home where our work began. Project Hope serves nearly 2000 individuals annually, representing 858 families. We partner with families on their journeys up and out of poverty, providing multicultural and multilingual programs, along with case management focused on holistic growth at both the family and community levels.

Our Mission

Project Hope works in partnership with women and families in the Dorchester and Roxbury neighborhoods of Boston to help them move up and out of poverty. We do this by being a catalyst for change in the lives of families, developing and providing programs and family support solutions to alleviate poverty and homelessness, and lead to improved economic, social and health outcomes for the community.
