About The Walk to Wulkabirimirri Campaign

Wesleyan Community Care is thrilled to announce the launch of the Walk to Wulkabirimirri campaign. Wulkabirimirri is a place where basic amenities are only available in already overcrowded houses. Access to proper sanitation and hygiene facilities is crucial for health and dignity, and the amenities block will be a monumental step towards improving the quality of life for the residents and allow visitors to stay onsite. This campaign is an inspiring initiative born from the unwavering dedication of Pastor Aisea and Elisivia Moala, who drive 800 kilometers, seven times every year from Darwin to the remote Indigenous community of Wulkabirimirri. This challenging 800 km walkathon aims to symbolically mirror their journey, raising crucial funds to install a much-needed amenities block that has already been purchased for this isolated community. With very few existing facilities, this amenities block will provide essential sanitation, hygiene, and dignity, significantly improving the quality of life for the residents.

We're challenging ourselves to walk 800 kilometres – not in a car, but on foot. This symbolic journey represents the vast distance Pastor Aisea and Elisivia cover, month after month, to serve the Wulkabirimirri community. But this isn't just about walking; it's about making a tangible difference. Our ultimate goal is to install a much-needed amenities block that has already been purchased, providing essential facilities for the community.

They offer a diverse range of programs designed to support vulnerable populations, including family strengthening initiatives, migrant and Indigenous support, youth empowerment, health and well-being programs, and disaster and emergency relief. By collaborating with existing community efforts, Wesleyan Community Care ensures that assistance is tailored to specific local needs, fostering sustainable impact and helping communities flourish.
